Cooley Earns 5th East Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week Honor

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Freshman Kory Cooley of the University of the District of Columbia Men's Basketball team has earned his 5th East Coast Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week honor for his performance in the week ending January 25th.

Cooley (Art – Silver Spring, MD/Calvin Coolidge HS) averaged 15.0 points per-game while shooting 45.2-percent from the field during a 1-1 week for the Firebirds. He also registered three rebounds, three steals, two assists and one blocked shot.

Cooley is currently tops among league freshmen and 6th overall in scoring with 17.6 points per-game. He is also 6th in FG pct. (51.3), 7th in three-point field goal pct. (41.9) and 2nd in the league in steals with 33.

Cooley and the Firebirds are currently in a three-way tie for 6th place in the ECC standings with a record of 4-6 (4-14 overall). They will visit LIU Post on Thursday, January 29th and NYIT on Saturday, January 31st.
