District of Columbia Dealt a Lopsided Loss at LIU Post

BROOKVILLE, NY – Freshman Reggie Sidbury led the Firebirds with 18 points in 33 minutes off the bench, but the University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team was defeated by LIU Post, 91-52 on Thursday night in East Coast Conference action at the Pratt Recreation Center.

Sidbury (Social Work – Landover, MD/Charles Herbert Flowers HS), who had not scored in double-figures in the last three games since returning from injury, shot 6-of-11 from the field (55-percent), including 3-of-5 from three-point range. He also collected a team-high three steals and one assist.

The ECC's leading rebounder, junior transfer forward Lenjo Kilo (Biology – Silver Spring, MD/Seton Hill), also added 13 points and six boards, and freshman guard Kevin Campbell (Biology – Washington, DC/Woodrow Wilson HS) pitched in with seven points and a season-high six assists.

The Pioneers featured four double-figure scorers, including guard P.J. Torres' game-high 22 points and forward Tyuan Williams' 21 points and nine rebounds. LIU Post out-shot UDC 48-percent to 35-percent from the field and more than doubled-up the Firebirds in the rebounding battle, 51-25.The Pioneers' 19 offensive boards afforded them 12 more shot opportunities and 24 second-chance points.

The Firebirds have now lost eight straight games as they fall to 3-15 overall and 1-11 in the ECC. The Pioneers, meanwhile, have won three of their last four games and improved to 14-8 overall and 9-5 in the conference.
