Ralph Watts Earns East Coast Conference Player of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Junior transfer guard Ralph Watts was named the East Coast Conference co-player of the week for his performance during the week ending February 17th. He shared the award with Molloy's John Petrucelli.

Watts (Sociology – Peekskill, NY/UAlbany), who is the first Firebird player to earn a conference weekly honor this season, averaged 21.0 points per-game while shooting 17-of-26 (65-percent) from the field and 7-of-10 (70-percent) from three-point range. In a 2-0 week for District of Columbia, he also pulled down 6.5 rebounds per-game and registered four assists and three steals.

The Firebirds, who won their first back-to-back games of the season this past week, have now won three straight games at home. Watts hit the game-winning layup in the final seconds of a thrilling, 86-84 win over Dowling on Saturday to keep the streak alive.

District of Columbia, which has kept its slim playoff hopes alive with three wins in its last four games, will visit ECC foe Queens on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Firebirds will look to win their first road game of the season and even the season series with the Knights.
