GAME PREVIEW: University of the District of Columbia Men's Basketball vs. Mercy

DOBBS FERRY, NY - The No. 22 University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team seeks its sixth straight victory tonight at East Coast Conference foe Mercy College. The game tips-off at 7:30 p.m.

The Firebirds, who earned their second appearance in the nation's top-25 in Tuesday's NABC poll, come in with a record of 19-3 overall and 10-2 in the conference. They will look to earn the school's first 20-win record since the 2006-07 season. It would also be head coach Jeff Ruland's fourth 20-win season of his career.

Mercy College comes in with a record of 3-19 overall and 2-10 in league play. The Mavericks have lost their last two games, including a 98-67 drubbing at C.W. Post last week. They are led offensively by Colin Senior (14.8 ppg) and Joseph Pope (11.3 ppg, No. 2 in ECC in FG pct., 54.6).

The last time these two teams met on January 18th, 2012 at UDC Gym, senior guard Brandon Herbert (Baltimore, MD - McDonough HS) scored 20 of his game-high 27 points in the second half as UDC used a 30-5 power surge to blow by Mercy, 90-58. Pope led the Mavericks with 14 points and nine rebounds.
