GAME PREVIEW: University of the District of Columbia Men's Basketball vs. NYIT

OLD WESTBURY, NY - The University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team seeks its fourth straight win as the Firebirds visit East Coast Conference foe NYIT on Wednesday, February 8th at 7:00 p.m.

Reigning ECC player of the week, Nigel Munson (Washington, DC - DeMatha HS) leads District of Columbia with a Division II 25th best 20.0 points per-game and 9th best 6.4 assists per-game. He is coming off a near triple-double performance at Queens last Saturday, where he registered 22 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.

Munson's backcourt mate, Brandon Herbert (Baltimore, MD - McDonough HS) is also coming off a 22-point scoring performance at Queens. He has scored in double-figures in all 20 games the Firebirds have played this season.

The Firebirds come in with a record of 17-3 overall and 8-2 in league play. They sit in second place in the ECC standings, just one game behind first-place C.W. Post (9-1).

NYIT comes into Wednesday night's game with an overall record of 8-11 and a conference mark of 5-5. The Bears have won three of their last four, including a 90-79 victory at Mercy on Saturday. They are led by Kayvon Roberts, who averages 14.8 ppg and 5.1 rpg.

UDC leads the all-time series 9-1, and the Firebirds won the last time these two met earlier this season on Jan. 11. Munson registered game-highs of 24 points and nine assists to lead the team to victory.
