GAME NOTES: University of the District of Columbia Men's Basketball vs. Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The No. 22 University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team looks to extend the longest win streak in the East Region to 12 games as it visits East Coast Conference foe Bridgeport on Saturday, January 14th at 3:00 p.m.

Fans can listen to live play-by-play audio by Eli Pearlstein via www.udcfirebirds.com.

The Firebirds (13-1, 4-0 ECC) had been outscoring opponents by an average margin of close to 10 points through their first 11 games, but have been put to the test the last three games, only winning by an average of 6.0 points per-contest.

The first of those three games, a home game versus non-league foe Washington Adventist, the Firebirds saw a 19-point second half lead dissipate after a fast start, but ultimately pulled out an 88-81 victory. The next game, UDC needed overtime to take care of ECC foe Dowling on the road, 71-68, and most recently, the Firebirds had to come back from a 14-point deficit in the first half to beat NYIT, 83-74.

Senior guard Brandon Herbert (Baltimore, MD - McDonough HS) leads UDC in scoring at 19.7 ppg and is ranked 36th in the nation (as of Jan. 5). He needs just 13 points to reach 1,000 points for his collegiate career.

Bridgeport (9-6, 4-1 ECC) has won three of its last four games including its last two. The Purple Knights came back from down 24 points in the second half to beat Molloy, 78-65 in their last outing. They are led by the second leading scorer in the conference, Darian David (20.2 ppg).
