Munson Scores Career- High 33 Points in Loss to Alderson-Broaddus

Philippi, WV: December 11, 2009- University of the District of Columbia Sophomore guard Nigel Munson scored a career and game-high 33 points as the Firebirds fell to the Alderson- Broaddus College Battlers,85-73, tonight in Philippi, West Virginia. Alderson-Broaddus took the win with Terrell Eargle leading the way, scoring 28 points, collecting 9 points, giving 5 assists and making 6 steals.

 The Battlers established themselves early in the game and never trailed, leading by 14 points at the break, 37-23. They shot 46 percent (16 for 35) in field goals and 50 percent (3 of 6) from the free throw line, to UDC's 33 percent (9 for 27) and 67 percent (4 of 6).

 Alderson-Broaddus built a 24 point lead in the second half before UDC made several runs to get the lead down to 9. The Battlers came back to close it out with a 12 point lead to win the game 85-73.

 Scoring in double figures for Alderson-Broaddus in addition to Eargle were Mark Summerfield with 16 points, and Jamar Board with 12.

 The Battlers shot 52 percent (31 for 60) in field goals, 65 percent (15 of 23) from the charity stripe and 38 percent (8 for 21) from behind the arc. UDC shot 45 percent (27 for 60) in two-point field goals, 42 percent (5 for 12) from behind the arc and 64 percent (14 of 22) from the charity stripe.

 Joining Munson in double figures for the Firebirds were sophomore forward Chris Leach (Washington, DC) with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals, and freshman guard Keith Brooks (Harlem, NY) with 11 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists and 2 steals.

 UDC, now 0-9 for season, after taking a break for final exams, will face Virginia State University on December 19, at Petersburg, Virginia.
