Firebirds Down Devils, 55-36, in Second Game of Christmas Classic

Washington, DC:December 21, 2007-- The University of the District of Columbia Firebird Basketball Team defeated the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia Devils, 55-36,tonight in the second game of the UDC Christmas Classic at the Physical Activities Center. Senior guard Charlie Smallwood (Palmer Park, MD) paced the Firebirds with 16 points and 2 rebounds, followed by senior guard Frank Petersen ( Silver Springs, MD) with 14 points and 6 rebounds.

Freshman forward Charlie Fritsch was the Devils' high scorer with 12 points and 5 rebounds, and their only player in double figures.
 
UDC will face the St. Leo University Lions Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., in the third game of the Classic. St. Leo defeated the Columbia Union College Pioneers, 85-47, in the opening game this afternoon. Sophomore forward Jordan Prais paced the Lions to the win with a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. Junior guard Dusty Driggs followed with 14 points and 2 rebounds.
 
Columbia Union and University of the Sciences Philadelphia will meet in the final game of the Classic at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
