UDC Firebirds Ranked 8th in NCAA East Region

2/8/2007 Washington, DC—The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Basketball Team fell to 8th place in this week’s NCAA regional rankings, but remained in the top ten of the East Region. The top ten teams in each region are ranked for each of the eight regions.  The regional rankings will be released weekly on Wednesdays through February 28, 2007.  
 
The Firebirds, 13-6 overall, are led by junior guard Charlie Smallwood (Palmer Park, MD), who averages 16.3 points per game. UDC has four games remaining before they will compete in the Independent Schools Tournament February 24-27, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida. They will return after the Tournament to finish their regular season on March 1, 2007 at home against the Columbia Union College Pioneers
