Firebirds Ranked 6th in East Region

Washington, DC—January 31, 2007--The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds maintained their high regional ranking this week, coming in 6th in the NCAA East Region after dropping one point from last week's number 5 ranking. The top ten teams in each region are ranked for each of the eight regions.  The regional rankings will be released weekly on Wednesdays through February 28, 2007.  
 
The Firebirds, 12-6 overall, are led by junior guard Charlie Smallwood (Palmer Park, MD), who averages 16.2 points per game. UDC has six games remaining in the regular season, after which they will compete in the Independent Schools Tournament February 24-27, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida.
