UDC FIREBIRDS FAIL TO AVENGE LOSS TO ST. AUGUSTINE’S

Raleigh, NC- The University of the District Columbia Firebirds traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina on January 12, hoping to avenge an earlier loss to the Saint Augustine’s Mighty Falcons in Washington. Alas, it was not to happen, as the Mighty Falcons would not relent and went on to beat the Firebirds by the score of 76-67.

UDC started the game with 7-0 run, before a St. Augustine’s free throw got them on the board at 16:03 of the first half.

St. Augustine’s struck back with a 12 point run at the 7:27 mark, running the score up to 37-25 at the 3:47 mark, before UDC got back on track with a lay-up by Donnell Ellis.

St. Augustine’s used the charity line to sink UDC by shooting 18-21, and hitting 86% of their free throws, while UDC was only able to make 64% of theirs, shooting 10-16.

At the break, St. Augustine’s led by 10 points, 30-40. UDC closed the gap in the second half, but managed to hit only 37% of the shots for the entire game, while St. Augustine’s hit 43% of theirs.
