CLARION UNIVERSITY GOLDEN EAGLES KNOCK OFF UDC FIREBIRDS

Washington, DC: Clarion University of Clarion, Pennsylvania defeated the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds basketball team 81-50 tonight in Washington, DC. After a close first half that ended with Clarion leading by only 7 points, 37-24, the Golden Eagles turned up the heat in the second half outscoring the Firebirds 70% to 40%.

Terrence Vaughn led Clarion in the win with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists. Chris Buchanan followed with 15 points, seven rebounds two assists. Justin Collins added 13 points, two rebounds and one steal. The under manned Firebirds were not able to keep up with Clarion’s  deep bench.

Jumaane Sorrells paced the Firebirds with 24 points, seven rebounds, two assists and one steal. Aaron Ramsey and Donnell Ellis contributed 8 points each.

The Firebirds, who are winless so far this season (0-5), will see their next action December 9, at 7:30 p.m., when they play Salem International University at home.
