Bio

Damian Jones joined the University of the District of Columbia Department of Athletics staff as Sports Performance Coach in February, 2020. In addition to planning and implementing strength and conditioning programs for the NCAA Division II intercollegiate men’s and women’s teams, Jones implemented the tactical training program for the University’s police department.

The former instructor in the Prince Georges County and Calvert County Maryland public school systems, Jones served as group fitness instructor and operations manager at George Washington University and was a strength and conditioning intern at Georgetown University. Jones is the founder and owner of Black Steel Fitness in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland where he provides speed, agility and strength training in multiple sports through sports performance private and small group instruction as well as camps.

Jones is a National Strength and Conditioning Association certified strength and conditioning specialist, is certified by the United States of America Weightlifting Association, American Council on Exercise, Kickboxing Promise Enterprise and holds CPR/AED certifications. He earned a B.S. degree in Exercise Science at Brooklyn College, New York and earned his M.S. degree in Strength & Conditioning at George Washington University.
