Bio

Marlena Wright was appointed as the Assistant Athletic Director of Communications for the University of the District of Columbia Athletic Department in March 2019.

Wright was born in Kingston, Jamaica but grew up in the Bronx, NY. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Media/Communications from the University of the District of Columbia, where she graduated back in 2016.

During her Undergraduate years at UDC, Wright was a part of the Women’s Track & Field team and became a 2x All-American her sophomore year. She graduated with Honors and received the Reslyn W. Henley Memorial award, the East Coast Conference Excellence in Community and Character award and was nominated for the NCAA Woman of the year award.

After Graduation, Wright went on to get her certification as a personal trainer and was hired as an Explosive performance coach at the Sport and health Club, where she worked with Athletes and a variety of different clients.

She was the story and is now well poised to tell the story. I am extremely pleased to work with her in this new role.”
