Bio

Director of Athletics, Patricia Thomas has announced the hiring of Brian Goodstein, MS, ATC, CSCS, PES, CES, EMT-R as the new Associate AD for Sports Medicine for the University of the District of Columbia, on 13 October 2022.

Goodstein graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from the University of Delaware and went on to receive his Master's degree from the California University of Pennsylvania. He holds certifications as an Athletic Trainer, Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Performance Enhancement Specialist, Correctional Exercise Specialist, and retired Emergency Medical Technician.

Goodstein worked at with the US Olympic Committee at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA. as an Athletic Trainer covering the US Soccer's National Teams, US Field Hockey, US Rowing, and US Track and Field. He then worked with the USA Women's National Field Hockey team during, and in preparation for, the 1998 World Cup Tournament. He then went on to serve as the Head Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning coach for the United States Soccer Federation U-17 National Team from 1998-2001 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, and attended 2, U17 World Cups.

Goodstein comes to UDC after a 20-year professional career with DC United of Major League Soccer (MLS). He served as the Head Athletic Trainer/Strength and Conditioning Coach and Director of Sports Medicine. During that tenure he was honored as the MLS ATC of the year 2 times and served as President and VP of his professional society PSATS.

Goodstein is currently serving as the Director of Sports Performance with DC Soccer Club (DCSC) and is an MLS Concussion Spotter. He lives with his wife and son in Washington, DC.
