Destiny Ryles Earns Third ECC Player of the Week Honors

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. - Destiny Ryles headlined week 14 of the ECC awards, earning Player of the Week for the third time this season. Latavia Jackson, Hartnel Haye, Michael Aiken, Carnell Lofton Jr and Najee Wilson also made the weekly honor roll.

Ryles was just two assists short of a triple-double in the Firebirds win over Staten Island. She scored 17 points shooting at 60% from the field, while grabbing 10 rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

Jackson had a stellar performance against Staten Island, helping her team to a 1-0 week. She scored a game high 23 points shooting at 60% from the field, while grabbing eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block. She also took great care of the ball, ending the night with zero turnovers.

Aiken came off the bench to score a team high 21 points to lead the Firebirds to an important conference victory over Staten Island. He shot at a season high 80% from the field and 75% from behind the arc. He was one rebound shy of double-double pulling down 9 boards, while posting five assists and two steals.

Haye posted another double-double (his fourth of the season), scoring 20 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. He also had four assists and two steals and shot at 53.3% from the field.

Wilson had a career high 30 saves in the Firebirds game against Caldwell University. His save percentage was 62.5% which puts him at the top of the conference

In the Firebirds season opener against Caldwell University, Lofton picked up a game high 14 ground balls, went 21-29 in FO's and added a goal and an assist.
