Hernandez and Haye Headline ECC Weekly Awards

WEST BABYLON- Juan Estevez Hernandez was named ECC Player of the Week and Hartnel Haye was named Defensive Player of the Week, for their performances last week. Latavia Jackson, Zoe Shaw, Dayna Thompson and Jahmir Marable-Williams were also named to the weekly honor roll.

Hernandez went 2-0 in the Firebirds edged loss against Division 1 program Howard University. He was the only Firebird to not lose a match on the day.

Haye averaged 12 rebounds and 2 steals on the week in a 2-0 week for the Firebirds. He also averaged 10.5 PPG. In the Firebirds win over Molloy he pulled a season high 15 rebounds, 2 steals and a block, while adding 17 points.

Jackson averaged 18.5 ppg (shooting at 51.9% from the field), 3.5 rebounds, an assist and a steal per game in a 1-1 week for the Firebirds. In the win over Molloy she had a game-high 25 points, five rebounds an assist and a steal.

Thompson placed seventh overall in the 200m running a season best time of 24.96s.

Shaw places third in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m.

Marable-Williams was all over the stat sheets, averaging 14 ppg, 7.5 assists, 6 rebounds and a steal per game, in a 2-0 week. In the win over Molloy he posted 13 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds and in the win over Queens he had 14 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. He also shot at 52.6% from the field on the week.
