Thompson and Williams Headline ECC Weekly Awards

WEST BABYLON, N.Y.- Dayna Thompson was named ECC Track Athlete of the Week and Tori Williams was named Defensive Player of the Week for their performances last week. Jahmir Marable-Williams and Latavia Jackson were also named to the weekly honor roll.

Thompson had the fastest D2 time in the 400m at the HBCU Showcase with a time of 57.94s. She placed 3rd overall out of a field of 31. She then went on to run on the Firebirds 4X400M relay team that placed 6th out of a field of 13 with a time of 4:04.02. Her time in the 400m was the fastest in the ECC so far this season, while the relay time currently ranks second. 

Williams averaged 12.5 rebounds, and 4 blocks per game to help the Firebirds to a 2-0 week in conference play. In the win over Molloy she posted nine rebounds and a game high three blocks while also making a steal. In the win over Queens she dished out a career and game-high 16 rebounds and 5 blocks. She also averaged a double-double on the week with 13 ppg.

Jackson averaged 16 PPG, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals to help lead the Firebirds to a 2-0 conference week. In the win over Molloy she was one rebound shy of a double-double posting 11 points and 9 rebounds to go along with 3 assists and 2 steals. In the win over Queens she had a team high 21 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.

Marable-Williams averaged 18 PPG, 5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and three steals on the week.He also shot at 69.6% from the field. In the game against Molloy he posted a team and season high 22 points, while grabbing 7 rebounds, 5 assists and three steals. In the win over Queens he added 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
