Latavia Jackson, Destiny Ryles and Iyanna Jackson Cap the Week with ECC Weekly Awards

BABYLON, N.Y.- Latavia Jackson earned ECC Offensive Player of the week, Destiny Ryles was named ECC Rookie of the week and Iyanna Jackson made Track Athlete of the week for their performances last week as was announced by the conference office, this afternoon.

Latavia Jackson averaged 17.3 ppg last week helping the Firebirds go 2-1. She registered a double-double in the Firebirds first Conference win over Molloy College with 20 points and 12 rebounds. In UDC's win over Bowie, she had 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Ryles averaged 15 ppg and had a game-high 22 points in the win over Molloy, packing the stat sheet with 22 points, six rebounds, five assists, and six steals. In the game against Bowie, she came off the bench to contribute 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Iyanna Jackson had a strong showing in her college debut. She placed 2nd out of a field of 22 in the 60m clocking a time of 7.92s. She then went on to place 3rd out of a field of 27 in the 200m and helped the 4x400m team to a second-place finish.

The UDC women's basketball team is back in action tomorrow with another home game at the UDC Gymnasium. They will face off against Lincoln (P.a) at 5:00 pm. UDC Women's Indoor Track & Field team will head to N.Y. on Friday to compete in the Seahawk Shoot Out.
