Williamsville, N.Y- The university of the District of Columbia's women's Tennis team defeated ECC Foe Daemen College in their season opener, Friday afternoon at the Miller Tennis Center.

Last season's First-team honoree, Simoné Pärn and Second-team honorees Marija Milic and Joanna Skrzypczynska were all successful at No.1-3 singles. Senior Estefania Castrillon and newcomers Sofia Bellucco and Izabella Bilecova also earned singles victories at No. 4, 5 and 6. 

The No.1 doubles team of Parn and Milic defeated Daemens Lena Gruber and Christina Stasiuk 6-1. Skrzypczynska and Bilecova teamed up for a shutout victory of 6-0 at No.2. 

With a great showing from each of the Firebirds this brings their overall and ECC record to 1-0. They will take on ECC foe Roberts Wesleyan tomorrow afternoon for their second match of the season.
