Three Firebirds Earn East Coast Conference Women’s Tennis All-Conference Honors

WEST BABYLON, NY – Sophomore Simoné Pärn was named First Team All-Conference, and junior Marija Milic and freshman Joanna Skrzypczynska each earned Second Team All-Conference to represent the University of the District of Columbia for the East Coast Conference Women’s Tennis All-Conference teams.

Simoné Pärn avenged a tough, 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 regular season loss to Barbie Quagliardi with a clutch, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 win.

FLUSHING, NY – The No. 3 seeded University of the District of Columbia women’s tennis team fell just short of upsetting No. 2 New York Institute of Technology as the Firebirds were defeated, 4-3 in the East Coast Conference semifinals Saturday afternoon at Queens College.

Paula Avellan won her No. 4 singles match on her Senior Day.

Skrzypczynska defeated the ECC Preseason Player of the Year, Ivana Andric, 6-4, 6-2 for her 8th straight singles win.

Milic improved to 4-1 in singles play this season with her match-clinching victory today.
