Firebirds Lose 20-0 to #10 Mercy

DOBBS FERRY, NY – The University of the District of Columbia women's lacrosse fell to East Coast Conference competitor Mercy College, 20-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Mercy Field.

The Firebirds (1-11, 0-6 ECC) came up against a strong Mavericks team who are now 11-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. Mercy is currently ranked No. 10 in the Division II rankings, 3rd in the East Region and stand at #2 in the ECC.

UDC continued to demonstrate persistence against the odds to restrict the Mavericks to five goals in the 2nd half of the game. Freshman Shemara Jefferson had two shots and one caused turnover and sophomore goalie, Jada Foy made nine saves.

The Firebirds will return to action against ECC foe Bridgeport, Sunday, April 22nd at 12PM at the UDC Sports Complex.
