UDC Turns Away Dowling 6-3
Washington, DC: April 8, 2010- Freshman Carlos Quiroga (Electrical Engineering-Valencia, Venezuela) led the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Men's Tennis Team to its fourth straight win, defeating conference rival Dowling College Golden Lions, 6-3, today, at the East Potomac Tennis Center in Washington, DC.
The Firebirds captured the doubles match 2-1, with wins by the combos of freshmen Miguel Uzcategui (Electrical Engineering-Valencia, Venezuela), and Quiroga (8-3), and seniors Karlon Bernard (Psychology-Scarborough, Trinidad) and Lalindra Jayatilleke ( Electrical Engineering-Suva, Fiji ) (8-5).
Four singles victories, including Quiroga's 6-0,6-1 defeat of Justin Skidmore, gave them the match win and improved their overall record to 10-3.
UDC hosts St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday, April 9, as they move toward the end of their regular season.
