Men’s Soccer Dominates Virginia State 6-1

Washington, D.C. -The University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team delivered a commanding 6-1 victory over Virginia State University on Wednesday evening at the UDC Turf Field. With contributions from multiple players, the Firebirds showcased their offensive firepower to earn their first victory at home. This is also the most goals scored in a game for the Firebirds since the 2012 season when they defeated Molloy University 8-7.

UDC started strong, taking control early in the match with four goals in the first half. Ignacio Pericet opened the scoring in the 9th minute with an assist from Isaiah Daniel, followed by an unassisted goal from Daniel just three minutes later to make it 2-0.

George Shaw added a third goal in the 23rd minute, assisted by Ignacio Lopez, and Mustafa Tahir capped the first-half scoring with a goal in the 42nd minute, assisted by Liam Thompson, giving UDC a comfortable 4-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, UDC continued to dominate, with Ignacio Lopez scoring an unassisted goal in the 66th minute. Virginia State's Salah Mahmoud managed to pull one back in the 73rd minute with a penalty kick, but UDC responded quickly as Mustafa Tahir scored his second goal of the game in the 80th minute, sealing the 6-1 victory.
