Washington, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's Men's Soccer Team defeated Roberts Wesleyan College to secure their second conference win of the season. This win brings the Firebirds to a 3-7 overall record and 2-1 conference record.
UDC took the lead with a goal from Vitor Gomes thirty one minutes into the first half. He was followed up by his teammate Danillo Muniz Beserra who headed a corner kick by Pierre LaNoire straight into the net to put the Firebirds in the lead 2-0 going into the half.
The intensity increased in the second half with a possible conference win still on the table. Alex Perez was able to land the ball in the back of the net for the Redhawks, bringing the score 2-1 with thirty minutes of play time still on the clock. In the end the Firebirds were able to ride out their lead and win the game.
The Firebirds handed the Redhawks their first conference loss of the season to tie both of their records 2-1.
UDC continues conference play on Wednesday October 16th at 3:00pm against Queens College.
