Firebirds Fall to St. Thomas Aquinas in High-Scoring Matchup
Sparkhill, NY — The University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team fell 97-73 to St. Thomas Aquinas College at Aquinas Hall. Despite their strong offensive efforts the Firebirds couldn't overcome their plague of turnovers.
The Spartans established control early, building a 10-point lead at halftime (47-37) and continuing their dominance in the second half. UDC shot an efficient 45.9% from the field, but St. Thomas Aquinas outpaced the Firebirds with 48.1% shooting and a commanding performance on the boards, outrebounding UDC 42-28.
Greg Williams led the Firebirds with 18 points, including 4 three-pointers, while Mikhai Arnold added 14 points and 4 rebounds off the bench. Tevin Curtis chipped in with 10 points and 4 assists. St. Thomas Aquinas' Hartnel Haye and Luis Risquez combined for 27 points and 12 rebounds.
