Men's Basketball Defeats D'Youville 73-62 in Conference Opener

Washington, D.C. -The University of the District of Columbia men's basketball team delivered a thrilling second-half performance to secure a 73-62 victory over D'Youville University (DYU) on Friday night at the E.B Henderson Sports Complex. The Firebirds move to 1-0 in conference play and remains undefeated against the Saints with an all-time record of 7-0.

Trailing 28-24 at halftime, the Firebirds flipped the script in the second half, outscoring D'Youville 49-34. Led by Khyrie Staten's double-double and Elijah Crawford's dominance on the boards, UDC took control of the game down the stretch. The Firebirds capitalized on their size advantage, grabbing 51 rebounds compared to D'Youville's 44, and converted 72.7% of their free throws.

Khyrie Staten paced the Firebirds with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Tevin Curtis added 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Elijah Crawford anchored the paint with 11 points, 15 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

D'Youville's Noah Hutchins led all scorers with 16 points, while Trayton Trice added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
