Firebirds Improve on 5k performances with Season Bests

Frederick, MD- Senior sprinter Cierra Roberts led the way for some season best performances in the 5k at the Hood College invitational, Friday afternoon at Utica District Park.

Roberts led the way for the Firebirds clocking in at 22:02.7, to place 35th out of 100 runners. This time was over a minute faster than her performance las week at the Adelphi Cross Country Invitational.

Next finisher for the Firebirds was freshman Lavondae Douglas who shaved off a little more than 50 seconds off of her time, running 27:44.5.

Senior Shannell Hibbert ran a time of 29:50.3 in her season debut to finish third for the Firebirds. Following her was teammate Kendra Williams who ran over two minutes faster than last week with a time of 30:19.0.

Other finishers for the Firebirds included Shanieka Bowra (30:30:45.8), Shanise Rose (32:03.6), Christine Taylor (32:59.4) and Shakiethia Nicholson (33:54.7)

The team of printers placed eighth out of nine teams with a score of 224 and will be back in action on Saturday September 21st for the UMES Cross Country Invitational.
