Firebirds Finish 5th at Hornet XC Invite

SMYRNA, DE – The University of the District of Columbia women's cross country team finished 5th of six teams at the Delaware State University Hornet XC 5K Inivite on Sat., Sept. 8.

The Firebirds were paced once again by junior transfer Cierra Roberts, who finished in a time of 26:25.3 to finish 18th of 39 runners overall. Less than a minute after Roberts, senior Dabrin Snorton crossed the finish line to place 19th at 27:15.1 in her 2018 season debut.

Junior Shannell Hibbert was the next in for UDC at 28:44 to place 25th, and later a pack of Firebirds came in at 29th, 30th and 31st. The first of that pack was junior Temera Duncan at 29:59.1, then sophomore Aisha Dozier at 30:32.0, and sophomore Shaneika Bowra at 30:55.7.

Junior Shakeithia Nicholson rounded out the scoring for the Firebirds as she placed 38th with a time of 34:06.0, and freshman Shanise Rose also finished the race at 34:35.1.

Next up for UDC is the Cappy Anderson Invitational in Princess Anne, MD on Sat., Sept. 15.
