Firebirds blazed the track with some season best performances at the Eastern Shore Challenge.

Salisbury, MD- The University of the District of Columbia women's Track and Field team had some season best performances at the Eastern Shore Challenge on Saturday April 13.

Captain Shaneika Bowra had a stellar meet winning both the 100m and 200m, both of which saw season best times. Bowra ran a time of 12.30s (a personal best) in the 100m and 25.56s in the 200m.

Back to back, ECC athlete of the week Shannell Hibbert placed third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.32. Freshman standout Shanise Rose placed sixth in the 100m hurdles with a season best time of 15.42s and sixth in the 200m dash with a season best time of 26.14s.

Cierra Roberts placed sixth in the 400m with a season best time of 59.29s and placed third in the long jump with a jump of 5.24m. Roberts along with teammates Rose, Hibbert and Bowra placed second in the 4x100m with a time of 47.51s.

Freshman Nyla Houston placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 10.35m and Mia-Alexis Lloyd placed eighth in the Javelin with a throw of 23.55m

Last up on the track for the Firebirds was the 4x400m relay, which saw Aisha Dozier, Tishana Dorn Roberts and Hibbert placing second with a season best time of 4:03.38.

Next up for the Firebirds is the ECC Championships next Saturday April 20.
