Firebirds blazed the Track at the Delaware Classic.

Newark, DE- The University of the District of Columbia Women's track and field Team showed up with some great finishes at the Delaware Classic meet on Saturday March 30.

Junior Shannell Hibbert had a tremendous day, competing in four events. She placed second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.19s and third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.64s. She also contributed to the Firebirds third place finish in the 4x100 with a time of 47.46s and she ran on the 4x400m that placed fourth overall with a time of 4:05.79s.

Tishana Dorn placed fourth in the 800m running a time of 2:27.84s and ran on the 4x400m relay that placed fourth. Teammate Aisha Dozier ran a season best time of 2:35.40s in the 800m to place tenth overall. Tough head wind saw Cierra Roberts finishing seventh in the 200m with a time of 26.90s and seventh in the 400m dash with a season best time of 59.35s. Shaneika Bowra placed sixth in the 100m with a time of 13.06s followed directly by her teammate Shanise Rose with a time of 13.16s.

The Firebirds had some strong showings on the field as well with Freshman Nyla Houston placing eighth overall in the Discus throw, throwing 33.07m, and seventh in the shot put with a throw of 11. 33m.

The Firebirds look to improve on performances next Saturday April 6 as they head to Fredericksburg, VA to compete in the Mary Washington Battleground Relays.
