Firebirds had Strong Finishes despite Windy Weather.

Collegeville, PA- Despite cold and windy weather conditions, the University of the District of Columbia Women's Track Team had some strong finishes at the Ursinus College Invitational on Saturday March 23rd.

Freshman Shanise Rose had a busy day qualifying for both the 100m and 100m hurdle finals. She won the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.76s and placed 6th overall in the 100m with a time of 12.99s out of a field of 40 sprinters. Shannell Hibbert placed second in the 100m with a time of 12.66s followed directly by her teammate Cierra Roberts with a time of 12.69s. In her debut 400m of the season Tishana Dorn placed third with a time of 1:02.95s and teammate Aisha Dozier placed 8th overall with a time of 1:04.97.

The Firebirds also had a strong showing in the field events with Roberts winning the long jump with a leap of 5.45m slightly improving her hump of 5.44m from last week's meet. Freshman Nyla Houston placed 5th out of a field of 27, in the discus throw and senior Tajah Franklin won her flight in the shot put with a throw of 9.93m.

The Firebirds will head to Delaware on March 30 to compete in the Delaware State Classic.
