Niasia Harding and Shakeithia Nicholson Sweep Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

WEST BABYLON, NY – The University of the District of Columbia's Niasia Harding and Shakeithia Nicholson swept the weekly East Coast Conference Women's Track & Field awards for their performances April 6th and 7th at the Mary Washington Battleground Relays.

Harding, a sophomore from Hempstead, NY, produced four excellent results finishing in the top three in all events participated to collect the Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. She went on to finish 3rd in the 200m in a time of 26.01s, then in the 100m she continued her fine form by finishing 3rd in 13.84s.

In addition, Niasia went on to compete in the 4x100m relay, which saw Cierra Roberts, Shaneika Bowra, Desiree Gaeckler and Harding finish in 1st place in 50.56s. Harding was not done yet, as she finished 1st in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:10.82.

Nicholson, a junior from Washington, DC, earned Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for her Triple Jump performance that saw her take 1st place with a personal best of 10.74m. Her leap started the Firebirds off in their meet this past weekend to earn them a 2nd place overall finish at the meet.

Harding and Nicholson will return to action, Saturday, April 14th, at the George Mason University Spring Invitational.
