Cold Day at Maryland Outdoor Track & field Invitational Proves Tough for Firebird

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The University of the District of Columbia women's track & field team competed at the Maryland Outdoor Track & Field Invitational on Saturday, March 17th.

The Firebirds, who were up against the tough weather conditions performed in their first outdoor meet of the season with snow flurries and wind, however, a strong performance by junior Shaneika Bowra saw her finish 4th in the 100M in a respectable time of 13.15s.

In the Long Jump field event, Cierra Roberts on her debut jump for the Firebirds outdoor placed a solid 3rd place out of 25 with a leap of 18-03.00.

In addition, the Firebirds maintained a strong showing in the 4x100M with Stacy-Ann Rowe, Shannell Hibbert, Cierra Roberts, and Shaneika Bowra finishing 3rd place out of seven teams in a time of 50.11s.

The Firebirds will compete again at the Ursinus College Invitational on Saturday, March 31st.
