UDC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Competes at George Mason Invitational

FAIRFAX, VA – The University of the District of Columbia Women's Outdoor Track & Field team participated in the George Mason Invitational on Saturday, April 8th.

The Firebirds, one of only three non-Division I women's teams at the meet, competed in 11 different events.

Outstanding performers for UDC were freshmen Temera Duncan and Niasia Harding in the track events and senior Brittany Okon in the field.

Duncan was 3rd in Heat 4 and placed 23rd overall out of a competitive field of 58 runners in the 400M event with a time of 58.84s.

Harding impressed in the 400M Hurdles as she ran a time of 1:04.68 to place 3rd in Heat 3 and 10th overall out of 38 runners.

Duncan and Harding then teamed up to run the 3rd and anchor legs, respectively, of the 4x400M Relay along with freshman Deasia Greer and Shannell Hibbert. The foursome ran a season-best time of 3:57.82 to place 2nd in Heat 2 and 6th overall out of 12 teams.

Meanwhile, Okon had a season-best performance in the Long Jump event, leaping out to 5.45M to place 12th of 36 competitors.

The Firebirds are back in action on Friday, April 14th at the Captains' Classic & Combined Events meet hosted by Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA.
