UDC Sweeps Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards for Week 2

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – The University of the District of Columbia's Shannell Hibbert and Brittany Okon were named East Coast Conference Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week ending April 3rd.

Hibbert, a freshman from Kingston, Jamaica, was part of four event wins for UDC at the Battleground Relays in Fredericksburg, VA on Saturday. She won the 100M Hurdles with a time of 15.64s, tied for the win in the 200M in 25.57s, and she was part of two relay teams that took first place (4x100M – 48.51s and 4x400M – 4:06.00). This marks her first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season.

Okon, a senior from Bronx, NY who earned Track Athlete of the Week last week, earned Field Athlete of the Week this week for her Long Jump performance at the Battleground Relays. She took 1st of 16 competitors with a season-best leap of 5.53M.

UDC will compete again next week at the George Mason Invitational in Fairfax, VA on April 8th.
