Brittany Okon Earns East Coast Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – The University of the District of Columbia's Brittany Okon was named the East Coast Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Track Athlete of the Week for her performance in the season-opening Maryland Invitational on March 18th.

In that meet, Okon had a hand in scoring 19 of the Firebirds' 47-point team total that was good for 6th place out of 10 teams competing. She ran the 3rd leg of the 4x100M Relay which earned UDC 10 points by finishing 1st place out of five teams competing with a time of 49.91s.

Okon also added nine points across two individual events as she scored UDC five points in the 100M and four points in the Long Jump. She was 2nd in Heat 1 and 4th overall in the 100M with a time of 12.94s, and 5th in both Heat 2 and overall with a leap of 4.88M in the Long Jump.

Okon and the Firebirds will be in action this Friday, March 31st at the Battleground Relays in Fredericksburg, VA.
