NEW ORLEANS – The University of the District of Columbia Women's Indoor Track & Field team is ranked 10th in the East Region and three individual athletes earned rankings in their respective events as the USTFCCCA released its latest Indoor National Team Computer Rankings earlier this week.

The Firebirds have competed in three events thus far this season, including their most recent outing at the Division II Spartan Invitational in Staten Island on January 15th where they placed 6th of 20 teams and tops among Division II women's teams.

Individually, senior Simone Grant – who was just named the East Coast Conference Preseason Athlete of the Year – is ranked No. 1 in the East Region in the Long Jump with a season-best leap of 5.50M at the Spartan Invitational. Grant is also ranked No. 5 in the region in the 200M with a season-best time of 25.56s at George Mason's Father Diamond Invitational.

Also, freshman sensation Saida Burns-Moore, a three-time ECC Field Athlete of the Week, is currently ranked No. 1 in the East Region in the High Jump with a season-best mark of 1.65M at the Spartan Invitational. Finally, graduate Jerily Benjamin ranks 7th in the 400M with a season-best 58.48s performance at the Spartan Invitational.

The Firebirds return to the track on January 30th as they compete in the Terrapin Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland at the PG Sports Complex.
