Multiple Firebirds Hit Personal Bests at VMI Invite

LEXINGTON, VA- the University of the District of Columbia's women's track and field team competed in the VMI Invitational over the course of two days. 
 
Day 1
 
Kayla Cooper ran a time of 7.92s in the 60m and Kayleigh Shelton just missed out on the 60m hurdle finals placing 9th with a time of 9.27s.
 
Emmanuela Katou Kouami threw 13.93m in the weight throw placing ninth out of a field of 37. Zoe Shaw jump 1.52m in the high jump to alao place ninth.
 
Day 2
 
Tukey Francis ran a season best time of 59.57s in the 400m to place 13th/43. She went on to run a personal record of 25.95s in the 200m.
 
Cooper ran a season best 25.69s in the 200m placing 11th/53.
 
Rainn Sheppard ran a collegiate PR time of 2:20.53 in the 800m placing 7th/41. Samantha Morrison also ran a collegiate PR time of 2:22.92.
 
Shaw leaped to 10.71m in the triple jump placing 10th/25 and Kouami threw a season best 10.66m in the shot put. 
 
The Firebirds will head to Lynchburg Va. next Saturday to compete in the Liberty Open.
