Shaneika Bowra Earns East Coast Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

WEST BABYLON, NY – The University of the District of Columbia's Shaneika Bowra has earned East Coast Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for her performance last Saturday at the Eastern Shore Cappy Anderson Invitational.

Bowra won 1st place in the 60M Dash with a time of 7.77s, took 4th place in the 200M Dash with a time of 26.01s, and ran the 2nd leg of the 4x400M Relay which finished in 4:14.21 for 4th place out of 11 teams.

The St. Catherine, Jamaica native was one of seven Firebirds to compete among the field of 25 in the 60M Dash event. She initially took 2nd place in the preliminary round with a time of 7.89, just .01 behind Howard University's Uchechi Onuoha. She bettered her time in the Finals by .12 to win the field.

Bowra's 4th place showing in the 200M Dash was out of 36 competitors.

Bowra and the Firebirds are now off through the end of the calendar year, and they will return to action on January 11th at the Spartan Invitational.
