Saida Burns-Moore, Simone Grant Each Earn NCAA Division II All-East Region Honors in Two Events

NEW ORLEANS – Freshman Saida Burns-Moore and senior Simone Grant each earned NCAA Division II All-East Region honors in two events as announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) earlier this week.

Burns-Moore earned All-East Region distinction in the High Jump and Triple Jump. She finished ranked No. 1 in the region in the High Jump with a season-best 1.70M clearance on February 12th at the Fastrack Invitational. She also finished 5th in the region in the Triple Jump, with a season-best mark of 11.24M on January 15th at the Division II Spartan Invitational.

Grant was named an All-East Region performer in the 200M and Long Jump events. She finished ranked No. 4 in both events, running a season-best 200M mark of 25.12 (24.74cf) at the George Mason Last Chance Meet on February 28th, and leaping out to a season-best long jump of 5.64M at the ECC Championships on February 26th.

Grant also finished ranked No. 7 in the region in the 60M with a season-best time of 7.80s at the Fastrack Invitational on February 12th, and she was part of the 4x400M Relay team comprised also of Jerily Benjamin, Marlena Wright and Jasmine Walker, which finished ranked 7th in the region with a season-best time of 3:58.85 at the ECC Championships.

Graduate senior Jerily Benjamin just missed All-Region accolades in the 400M as she finished ranked No. 6 in the East with a season-best time of 57.45s (56.70cf) at the George Mason Last Chance Meet.

The Firebirds as a team finished the Indoor season ranked No. 9 in the East Region with 127.06 total points.
