Firebirds Indoor Track & Field Remains No. 9 in East Region; Three Firebirds & Relay Team Earn Individual Event Rankings

NEW ORLEANS – The University of the District of Columbia Women's Indoor Track  Field team is ranked No. 9 in the USTFCCA Week 3 National Team Computer Rankings, and a host of individual Firebirds are ranked in their respective events.

The Week 3 rankings from the USTFCCCA had three individual Firebirds ranked in their respective event, including: freshman Saida Burns-Moore – 1st in the High Jump (1.65M) and 3rd  in the Triple Jump (11.24M); senior Simone Grant – 2nd in the Long Jump (5.56M) and 6th in the 200M (25.37s); and graduate Jerily Benjamin – 6th in the 400M (57.43s).

 

Also, the 4x400M Relay team of Benjamin, senior Marlena Wright, junior Jasmine Walker and Grant, is ranked 5th in the region after a season best mark of 4:00.82 run at the Vince Brown Invitational this past weekend.

 

The Firebirds have competed in five meets this season, including most recently at Christopher Newport University's Vince Brown Invitational on Saturday, February 6th. They will compete next on Friday, February 12th at the Jasper Invitational.
