Saida Burns-Moore Earns ECC Field Athlete of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Freshman Saida Burns-Moore was named East Coast Conference Field Athlete of the Week for her performance in the week ending December 6th.

Burns-Moore was a High Jump event winner in her collegiate debut at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Lid Lifter Invitational on Saturday, December 5th. Her clearance of 1.60M places her 30th in the Division II and is just off the NCAA Provisional mark of 1.65M.

In other news, University of the District of Columbia sophomore Stacy-Ann Rowe earned Honor Roll distinction for her accomplishments in the sprint events. Rowe made her Firebird debut competing in two sprint events at UMES. She was a runner-up in the 60M hurdles with a time of 9.58s and 4th in the 60M dash with a time of 8.10s. (She also ran a 60M dash preliminary time of 7.94s – one of the fastest times run in the East Region).

The Firebirds are off for the remainder of the calendar year. They return to action on January 9th at George Mason's Father Diamond Invitational.
