Women’s 4x400 Meter Relay Team Earns Indoor All-American Honors

NEW ORLEANS – Four Firebirds earned All-American Honors by finishing among the top eight teams in the 4x400 Meter event at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships. The USTFCCCA announced the list of All-American student-athletes today, March 18th.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Senior Kaydian Jones took 14th place out of 17 competitors with a time of 25.06 in the 200M Dash Event Prelim at the NCAA Division II Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships at JDL Fast Track on Friday, March 14th.

Five Firebirds Selected for All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS – The University of the District of Columbia Women’s Track and Field team received more accolades today as the All-Region athletes were announced by the USTFCCCA. Five Firebirds were honored in the East Region for their outstanding performances during the 2013-2014 Division II Indoor Track and Field season. Only the top-five individuals in each event, and top-three relay teams are given this honor per region.

INDIANAPOLIS – Senior Kaydian Jones and the Firebirds’ 4x400M Relay Team consisting of Jones, Jerily Benjamin, Marlena Wright and Simone Grant have been selected to participate in the 2014 NCAA Division II Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships in Winston-Salem, NC at JDL Fast Track. Jones qualified for the championships by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for the 200M event and helped the 4x400M relay team do likewise.
Women's Track and Field Partners with Martha's Table Charity

WASHINGTON, DC – Fresh off of their second straight East Coast Conference Championship, the University of the District of Columbia’s Women’s Track and Field team had a weight lifting day on February 28th. Instead of barbells and weight plates, it was pounds of chicken, broccoli, fruits, cereals and other foods, as they partnered with Martha’s Table to distribute to local families in need. Martha’s Table is a charity organization that provides education, food, and opportunities to families in the DC area.

NEW ORLEANS – As the Indoor Track and Field season reaches its climax, the Firebirds boast seven regionally ranked times and performances. The team is in 8th place in the NCAA Division II East Region according to the latest USTFCCA poll. Consistent improvement has helped the Firebirds crack the top-10, even though the team does not compete in a handful of events.

Firebirds Stride into the Heart of the Season at Terrapin Invitational

LANDOVER, MD – The Firebirds were back in action close to home on Saturday, January 18th. The team competed at the Terrapin Invitational against a myriad of excellent track and field programs including Maryland and Navy. Coach Alton Mckenzie had the Firebirds in the mindset of seeking continued improvement, and many athletes met that objective.
