Shauna-Kay Creary Earns ECC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week; Kaydian Jones Makes Honor Roll

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Junior Shauna-Kay Creary of the University of the District of Columbia women's indoor track and field team, has earned the East Coast Conference women's field athlete of the week honor for her performance in the week ending January 13th.

Creary (Accounting – Kingston, Jamaica/St. Andrew HS) jumped 5.51M which ranked her 22nd nationally and secured an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark last week at the New York Armory Saturday night. The jump also ranks as the best individual long jump performance by any ECC female athlete this season. She took home 3rd in the event amongst 25 competitors.

Also, junior Kaydian Jones (Journalism – Kingston, Jamaica/St. Andrew HS) was named to the ECC weekly honor roll for her performance at the Armory. Jones ran a stellar 200M on Saturday night, finishing in a time of 24.48, which ranks her 34th in the nation and provides her with an NCAA Provisional mark. She placed 6th overall at the meet.

The Firebirds will next compete at the Maryland Invitational in Landover, MD on January 19th.
