Saleena Green Finishes First in Women's Long Jump at Patriot Games

Fairfax, VA: January 30, 2010--- All-American junior Saleena Green (Kingston, Jamaica) and junior Dicoda Waugh (Kingston, Jamaica)  were the high place finishers for the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Women's Indoor Track and Field Team  at the George Mason University Patriot Games on Saturday, at the Patriot Center.   Green jumped the distance of 5.76 meters to finish in first place in the women long jump  ahead of 20 competitors.

Waugh, a junior from Kingston, Jamaica, tied for second place in the women high jump, with the distance of 1.60 meters. Waugh also finished 11th in the women triple jump.

Freshman Callister Jones (Fort Washington, MD)  finished 6th in the women 400 meter dash, with the time of 1:01.15. Green came in at 10th place and All-American sophomore Latoya Allen (Washington, DC) finished in 11th place.

All-American Kaneesha Hollis (Centreville, MD) finished 14th in the women 800 meter run. Green also competed in the women 200 meter dash, finishing 7th, while teammate freshman Famatta Lewis (Camden. NJ) finished in 11th place. All-American and All-Academic Erica Nixon (Bronx, NY) finished 15th in the women 60 meter dash.

The Firebird 4x400 meter relay team finished 4th in their event, coming in with  the time of 4:07.71 minutes. Members of the team were Jones, Hollis, Allen and junior Demia Franklin (Baltimore, MD).
