2/6/2007 Landover, MD; February 3, 2007-- Dr. Clemmie Solomon, Vice President for Student Affairs for the University of the District of Columbia was among those cheering the UDC Women's Indoor Track Team and encouraging them to do their best at the Potomac Valley HBCU Invitational Meet on Saturday, February 3, 2007, at the Prince George's Sports Complex in Landover, Maryland. Dr. Solomon said, " I am extremely impressed with the development of our Women's Indoor Track Team in their first year of competition. They are a group of very bright, talented and dedicated young ladies whom I expect to take UDC to new heights in track and field."

Landover, Maryland: February 3, 2007-- Sophomore sprinter Maurisa Williams (Sicklerville, NJ) led the Lady Firebirds in competition during the Potomac Valley HBCU Championship Invitational in Landover, Maryland, today. Williams won the women’s 400 meter dash with a time of 57:79, which is the provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA regional. Teammate Ericka Cooke (sophomore-Willingboro, NJ) finished 13th in the heat.

1/19/2007 Lewisburg, PA: January 13, 2007--The Lady Firebirds Indoor Track Team competed successfully in the Gulden Relays this past weekend at Bucknell University, amongst several Division I schools. Junior Anene Wynn finished 2nd out of 14 competitors in the high jump. In the 4x200m (Ericka Cook, Anene Wynn, Siobhan Marsh, Maurisa Williams)took 2nd place out of 10 teams. Danielle Cook finished 6th overall in the 60m high hurdles, and Siobhan Marsh finished 6th in the 60m dash. In the Sprint Medley relay(Williams, Ericka Cook, Marsh, Shakira Watford took 5th overall as well. The Lady Firebirds will compete in the University of Maryland Invitational at the Prince George's Sport Complex in Landover, Maryland Saturday, January 20th.
