ITA Day 1 Results

FLUSHING, NY – Three individual Firebirds advanced through Singles Qualifying rounds, and two of three doubles teams through the Round of 64 in a successful Day 1 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Championship at Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

In first round qualifying singles action, Anastasiia Danylova, Estefania Castrillon, and Anastasia Khomyachenko each earned victories to advance to the final qualifying round. Danylova defeated Roberts Wesleyan's Bijisha Shrestha, 8-3, Castrillon knocked off Merrimack's Mia Briggs, 8-4, and Khomyachenko beat Post University's Sabrina Martino, 8-0.

Danylova went on to earn a final qualifying round win, 8-4 vs. Caroline Ray of Stonehill, but Castrillon and Khomyachenko were defeated, 8-2 and 8-0, respectively.

Simoné Pärn and Joanna Skrzypczynska each earned first round byes into the finals, and they would both win their qualifying finals matches to advance. Pärn  defeated Roberts Wesleyan's Salome Darsalia, 8-1, and Skrzypczynska bested Kristel Kalm of Concordia College, 8-2.

In doubles play, Pärn and Marija Milic stayed undefeated on the season as they earned a decisive, 8-1 victory over NYIT pair, Antonella Lopez Alcerro and Kaitlyn Byrnes. Also, Danylova and Skrzypczynska defeated St. Anselm's Emily Jacy and Lexi Stathis, 8-2. Both UDC pairs will advance to the Round of 32.

Khomyachenko and Castrillon were ousted, 8-0 by NYIT's Barbie Quagliardi and Diana Baumgartnere.
