Women’s Tennis Cruises to Shutout Victory vs. Molloy

WASHINGTON, DC – The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team claimed all three doubles and all six singles match victories in a 9-0 shutout victory over visiting Molloy College in East Coast Conference action Saturday.

The Firebirds improved to 4-3 overall and 4-2 in the ECC play with today's win while Molloy fell to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in league play.

UDC started the match ahead 2-0 with Molloy needing to forfeit matches at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles . Senior Dominika Hadnadova and reigning ECC Player of the Week, freshman Anastasiia Danylova, earned an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, and sophomore Estefania Castrillon and freshman Florence Clercx followed also with an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles to complete a doubles sweep heading into singles play.

The Firebirds went on to claim victories in straight sets in all five singles matches played.

With Monday's originally scheduled home match vs. USciences cancelled due to rain in the forecast, the Firebirds' next scheduled match is on the road at Wilmington, Tuesday, October 10th at 2 p.m.
