WEST CALDWELL, NJ- The University of the District of Columbia's women's lacrosse team fell to Caldwell University 5-21, Wednesday evening at the Essex Valley Field. The Firebirds gfell to 1-5 on the season and the Cougars improved to 1-3.
Alejandra Lainez-Riodriguez scored two of the Firebirds five goals while winning four draw controls. Kensley Benjamin, Jada Williams and Michelle Mitchell each added a goal as well.
Caldwell went on a 7-1 run in the first half, with Lainez-Rodriguez scoring UDC's lone goal.
The Cougars won 20 draw controls compared to the Firebirds eight and took almost four times as many shots (42-11).
Up Next, UDC (1-5, 0-0 ECC) will open conference play this Saturday, traveling to N.Y. to face off against D'Youville University. Tip-off is slated for 11:00 AM.
